The “Cosmic Flow” series is a more intuitive body of work, with abstract forms materializing by the moment. The “Ink” series sprouted from my exploration of Chinese calligraphy techniques applied to achieve movement and balance. In the darkness of black sumi ink strokes, I felt the power and depth of erasure and decided to use it to practice letting go. Similar to the humble process in which Tibetan monks disperse a sand mandala that was meticulously made over long hours and days, creating a full painting before slathering black ink over it, or carving away bits of the underlying work is a reminder for myself...
